Cupid's Trick

Cupid's Trick is a game of self-knowledge about attraction. This Policy describes, in plain and precise terms, what information the Service collects, how it is used and protected, the limited circumstances in which it is disclosed, and the rights you have over it. We have written it to be read.
This Privacy Policy explains how Cupid's Trick (“Cupid's Trick,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information about you when you access or use our website and services (collectively, the “Service”). It forms part of, and is incorporated into, our Terms of Service.
The Service is offered only to individuals who are at least 18 years of age and located in the United States, excluding jurisdictions we do not currently serve. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. Where the Service processes biometric information, we do so only after obtaining your separate, express consent, as described in Section 4 and in our Biometric Data Policy.
We collect the following categories of information:
Conversations you provide to the Wingman feature, whether typed or uploaded as screenshots, are processed transiently to generate suggestions and are not stored. Screenshots are sent to our text generation provider for that single request and then discarded; we retain only the fact that the feature was used, for the purpose of enforcing usage limits. We do not request or knowingly collect your date of birth beyond a one-time age verification, of which we retain only the yes-or-no result.
We treat Biometric Information as among the most sensitive data we handle, and we process it only in accordance with your express, revocable consent, recorded with a version identifier and timestamp at the time it is given.

We do not engage in advertising, we do not work with data brokers, and we do not sell or share Personal Information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Within the Service, other users see only your Standardized Image, presented as a face in a game. They do not see your name, email address, age, questionnaire answers, or results, and no attribute of yours is ranked or displayed publicly.
The single exception is one you control. When you and another user have each expressed mutual positive interest (a “match”), each of you is informed that the interest is mutual. If, and only if, you then choose to share your saved contact handle, it becomes visible to that matched user. Nothing is shared automatically. A pass, a one-sided interest, or a wrong guess is never disclosed to anyone, and no user is ever able to learn who declined them.

We may also disclose information where required to do so by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will provide notice before your Personal Information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We retain Personal Information only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter only as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Biometric Information is deleted, embedding and all, within 30 days of account deletion or withdrawal of consent, and after 12 months of account inactivity, whichever occurs first. Deletion is enforced by an automated retention process, not left to manual action.
We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include access controls that keep facial embeddings on the server and out of any client response, a private storage bucket served only through short-lived signed links, and strict separation of the data that powers the game from the parties who process payments or generate text. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You have the following controls over your information:
Withdrawal of consent and account deletion are self-service and take effect immediately. For any other request, contact us as described in Section 15. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”), provides you with specific rights regarding your Personal Information: the right to know and access the Personal Information we have collected, the right to a copy of it, the right to correct it, the right to delete it, and the right to limit our use and disclosure of sensitive Personal Information.
Your facial embedding constitutes sensitive Personal Information under the CCPA. We already limit its use to the features you signed up for: it is never used to infer characteristics about you, never used for advertising, and never disclosed for any other party's purposes. We do not “sell” or “share” Personal Information as those terms are defined under the CCPA, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months. Exercising your rights is free and will not result in any reduction in the quality of the Service. Deletion and consent withdrawal are available to you directly in You → Data & privacy; for any other request, contact us as described in Section 15.
The Service is intended solely for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from anyone under 18, and access is gated by an age check before any biometric feature is available. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us as described in Section 15.
You may upload only a photograph of yourself. If a photograph of you appears on the Service and you did not upload it, you may request its removal without owning any copyright and without holding an account. Our Copyright & Takedowns page describes how to make such a request and how we respond.
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. If we make a change that materially affects how we handle your Biometric Information, we will seek your consent again rather than relying on consent previously given for a different scope. Your continued use of the Service after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
